Polk County Sheriffs deputies were investigating yet another break-in in the Green Creek area Monday. The break-in, which occurred over the week- end at Jack Scruggs & Son store, was the sixth break-in in the Green Creek and Sandy Plains areas since last Tuesday. Investigators were not avail able for comment Monday and no details on the latest break-in were available.' What's happening: The Polk County High School Marching Band will hold its "Kick-Off '92" tonight at 7 p.m. at the Steams Educa tion Center. Band members, color guard members, parents and interested area residents arc encouraged to attend. A Ross Perot Wake will be held today from 5-7 p.m. at the Blue Grotto Pub. All petition volunteers and signers of the effort to have Ross Perot on the North Carolina presidential ballot in November are invited to come mourn over snacks and (Continued On Back Page) TRYON, N.C. 28782 Red Fox Sale Set To Close By August 5 The high bidder for Red Fox Country Club signed a contract Friday. The buyer, who still wishes to remain unidentified, submitted the high bid for the property on July 3. The bidders were informed of the outcome July 10. Last Friday, the high bidder signed a purchase contract and gave an earnest money deposit. The contract calls for a 10-day inspection period, which began Friday. Closing will take place on or before Wednesday, August 5 in Asheville. The contract also sets out an agreement as to remedies should the buyer find defects in the property. Alan Fleming works with Hatfield Phillips in Atlanta, the firm which is handling the sale for the federal savings and loan bailout organization, the Reso lution Trust Corp. He said he could not identify the buyer because "he wants to talk to Red Fox residents first, before making an announce ment." Fleming said the buyer could still back out of the deal if he had sufficient reasons under the contract. If he were to back out, the second highest bidder would then have the opportunity to purchase the property. Hefner, a well known local musician, has put together a new young band with lots of energy. Oasis plays country rock with a repertoire ranging from the latest chart toppers to the old classics. Saturday Night Music in the Park performances start at 8 p.m. every Saturday night and arc sponsored by the Stearns Park Committee and the Town of Columbus. McCraw-Kelley Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kenneth McCraw of Spartanburg announce the engagement of their daughter, Patricia Lynn, to Jeffrey David Kelley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hal David Kelley of Landrum. The couple will be married Sept. 11 at Calvary Baptist Church. Miss McCraw was graduated from Spartanburg High School and works at Amtech Machine and Equipment. Mr. Kelley was graduated from Boiling Springs High School and DcVry Institute of Technology. He works at Auto mated Systems and Equipment Inc.
